Atari Asteroids is a tricky game to get the hang of, but once you do, it's an insanely addictive game. You must move your triangle-looking spaceship around by rotating and thrusting. Use the left and right arrow keys to rotate in the respective direction, and use the up arrow key to thrust.
The goal is to shoot up and destroy every single asteroid and flying saucers/UFOs. However, when you shoot an asteroid, it will break down into smaller pieces. Shoot as many asteroids and saucers as possible to get points. An asteroid earns 20 to 100 points, and saucers can give up to 1000 points.
Be weary of saucers as they can shoot you, which causes you to lose a life. Smaller saucers are very precise in their aim and shoot directly for you. Bigger saucers, on the other hand, have a very poor aim and are easier to target. As the game goes on, the difficulty will keep on increasing.
Find yourself in a challenging situation? Press the down arrow key to activate the Hyperspace feature, which warps you to the safe side of the map! You can use this as many times as you want, but there is a chance it could cause your spaceship to blow up. It's always a gamble to use Hyperspace, so maybe use it more sparingly.
