How to Play Run?

Run is one of those games that are easy to learn but hard to master. In Run, you control an alien character using the arrow keys to move left and right, and space to jump.

There will be many gaps in the platform that you have to evade or jump over. But sometimes, a gap is so big that not even a massive jump can make it past. And this is where the twist comes in: you can flip gravity!

You are running through a tunnel with four walls. Bump into one of the walls to flip gravity. Now that wall is the new ground! Safely jump and flip your way past fifty levels and you're on your way to beating Run!

Different Modes and Challenges

Have you beaten all fifty levels of Run? Make it a bit more difficult by changing the speed from normal to FAST! This way, the game speeds up and you have to quickly think on your toes if you want to survive!

Play in either Adventure mode or Infinite mode. Adventure mode has all the standard fifty levels. Infinite mode randomly generates levels forever, with each of them getting slightly harder over time!

What's the World Record Time for Beating Run?

On Speedrun.com, HamburgerManE from Canada holds the world record of 9 minutes, 33 seconds, and 33 milliseconds. The runner up is just 734 milliseconds longer. To put that into perspective, blink twice. That's how much faster first place is to second place.

You might be wondering, How is it possible to speedrun a game that progresses at the same pace for everyone? And you'd be right, unless you fall and have to restart a level, two players should in theory beat the game at the exact same time, right?

Not quite! It turns out that there are a few optimizations that can help make a run faster. For example, not flipping gravity. The game slows down a bit when flipping gravity, so speedrunners must try and memorize routes that utilize as little gravity flipping as possible. Oh, and they obviously can't die, or else they lose loads of time!

Can I Play Run Without Flash?

Yes, Run can be played without Flash on Gilect Play. This is the original version of Run, the one that speedrunners compete on. With emulation, Run (and plenty of other games) are able to be converted from Flash to HTML5.
