Microsoft Solitaire Collection

About this game

Solitaire is one of the most played card games in the world. With its simply and straightforward rules, it can be enjoyed by anyone! Microsoft Solitaire is solitaire and more, featuring five game modes and daily challenges.

Five Different Versions

Microsoft Solitaire has five different variants of Solitaire, including Klondike (the original), Spider, FreeCell, Pyramid, and TriPeaks. All of them can be immediately played without having to unlock them!

Klondike Solitaire is the original and most popular variant. Create a stack of cards ordered from low to high in all four piles. Cards in columns must be placed in descending order and have to alternate between red and black.

In Spider, the way to win id by removing all the cards from the table by creating runs of cards. The runs need to be organized from highest to lowest card order (king to ace.)

FreeCell is another variant of Solitaire where you create a stack of cards from lowest to highest in each of the four foundation piles.

Pyramid is a bit different from the other three. In Pyramid Solitaire, you must clear as many boards as possible by tapping on any two cards which add up to thirteen. If none of the cards add up to thirteen, you can draw a card to reveal a new one.

Solitaire TriPeaks is another popular variant that has simpler gameplay. Clear as many boards as possible by tapping on face-up cards either one above or one below the top card in the waste pile. Color and suit don't matter, and aces could be high or low.

Daily Challenges and More

Not only does Microsoft Solitaire Collection let you play five different variants of Solitaire, it also has extras and bonuses, such as Daily Challenges. In Daily Challenges, you can earn coins for each challenge you complete per day. Playing each day makes it so you can collect enough coins for monthly badges!

History of Microsoft Solitaire

Microsoft Solitaire was originally introduced as a free game included in Windows 3.0. This was in 1990, which is over three decades ago! While it only featured the original Klondike variant, Microsoft Solitaire stuck around and got rebranded as Microsoft Solitaire Collection as a part of Windows 8. Since then, it has been included in later versions of Windows including 10 and 11, and was even launched as a web game.

Now, you can even play Microsoft Solitaire Collection in your browser on Gilect Play or MSN Games. Who knew that such a simple game would be around for such a long time and even be introduced to the World Video Game Hall of Fame in 2016?
